DIY Projects for Your Leftover Masonry Materials

When you think of masonry projects, you think of walkways, concrete pouring, and Orlando paver installation. After you project is complete, chances are, you’ll have a decent amount of material left over. Why not think of something fun and modern to do with your leftover masonry supplies? When social media platforms like Pinterest exploded in popularity, they inspired the world to partake in fun and out-of-the-ordinary DIY projects.
Don’t let you pavers and bricks go to waste, consider using them for one of these imaginative DIY projects:

  • The Rustic Bookend. You can use either leftover pavers or bricks for this project, either way, it’ll ensure that your books stay in line on the bookshelf. You can achieve a worn ombre effect with the use of spray paint or get more complex with a stenciled or hand-drawn masterpiece. To avoid scratching your bookshelf, use felt pads on the underside of the brick or paver. Get as creative or minimalist as you want with it!

  • The Brick Planter or Flower Pot. If your bricks already have holes in them, your job just got a whole lot easier. Bricks are great for housing succulents, rocks, and candles. The organic color of the plants will translate nicely against the texture and color of the brick. If your brick does not have a hole, make one! You can carefully chisel or use a tile-cutting blade.

  • The Walkway Mosaic. If you do plan on laying your own walkway, why not use the bricks to make a mosaic-like effect. Color each brick differently and arrange them in any colored pattern that you choose. This same idea can be applied to garden beds or planters as well.

  • The Tiered Planter. If you’ve always wanted a tiered planter, but don’t want to spend a ton of money on one, make your own. Stack two bricks or pavers in the bottom of a large pot and then set another pot on top. You’ll have the layered plant look you’ve always wanted, without having to pay an extravagant price.

  • The Pencil-Holding Paperweight. Drill some holes in the brick and use it to hold your pencils on your desk. Due to its weight, it also doubles as a sturdy and reliable paperweight. You can decorate it however you see fit, or let it’s rugged nature shine through. A useful tip: older bricks are easier to drill through.

With a little ingenuity and imagination, you can come up with a variety of unconventional uses for your leftover Orlando pavers and bricks. If you’re looking for a reliable masonry expert to supply you with a variety of quality bricks and Orlando pavers, contact Bedrock Industries today.
