If you are planning to have Orlando pavers installed, or you would like to DIY the pavers, there are several steps in the installation process you need to know. Here we will go over the first two steps in planning your new paver project.
1. Planning
Planning the area to be paved is your first step. Decide where your pavers will go. When you have an idea of where you want Orlando pavers it is usually best to sketch the plan on paper.
Next, it may help you to lay out the area in your sketch using boards, string or a hose. This will give you a better idea of the size.
Selecting a color and paver pattern during this planning phase will help you know what colors and styles will be available when you are ready to start the installation.
Layout
When you have finalized your plan, and a good idea of how your new project will look when completed, you are ready to start laying out the area for excavation. Mark or spray paint the outline, approximately eight inches outside that the layout lines you established in step 1.
A good paver installation will have a gradient or slope away from the house or building. This will allow water to run off the pavers away from the house. A good slope is 1” every four feet.
2. Calculating Amount of Pavers Needed
Measure the width and the length of the area where you plan to install the Orlando pavers. Multiply the width by the length to get the total number of square feet.
Add 5 % to the total square footage calculated. This will give you some extra pavers for cutting. When buying pavers it is a good idea to go to the next full cube amount to be sure you have enough to finish your project.
If you are using a professional installer they will figure how many square feet of pavers are needed. It is a good idea to double check the figures so both of you know how many square feet are needed and what you are paying for.
