Should I Use Pavers or Concrete For Home Improvement Project?
Home improvement projects are a constant battle between looks, durability and affordability. When it involves patio material, there are many options to consider that can affect the outcome of your project. The two most popular options for upgrading your patio each has their advantages, but it’s up to you to decide which material is right for you. So the question is, should you choose Orlando pavers or concrete for your home improvement project?
- Cost: The cost of concrete per square foot is generally lower than any type of paver, making it more affordable if you have a budget to stick to. Since concrete is also easier to install, you could save on labor costs because you won’t be required to do any tedious site preparation. With pavers, the base must be packed well enough so the pieces will not settle.
- Appearance: Pavers tend to be much more attractive than concrete. They can offer a much more unique appeal, with colors and textures to match. But don’t take for granted the versatility of concrete. You can still achieve similar effects with concrete; it can be stamped, stained, scored, embedded with stone, and more. That, on top of its affordability makes concrete an appealing option.
- Durability: Concrete is generally maintenance-free, especially if you have it sealed. Although pavers are tightly arranged around one another, you can still end up with debris between the joints, which requires cleaning to maintain its visual appeal. Concrete slabs are susceptible to cracking if the soil becomes unstable, which may call for resurfacing. With ground movement, you do have to worry about the paver shifting up and becoming a tripping hazard.
