When Weeds Attack Your Pavers

Ugh. We have been there. You put down these nice pavers, you get excited about how beautiful it looks and then BAM. You have weeds into between your pavers. Nothing looks worse. So, how do you get rid of them? The Orlando paver experts at Bedrock Industries will offer you some advice on maintaining your pavers and reducing the risk of an attack from weeds.

Before you we give you some advice, let’s clear one thing up. Many people believe that weeds come from underneath the pavers. However, that isn’t the case. Typically, weeds come from seeds that get blown in from other things that are around your patio and they get into the cracks of the pavers. Maybe you think your yard is free of weeds – ok sure. Then the other explanation could be from one of your friendly neighbors. Either way, they are there and you want them G-O-N-E!

So, here is the best method for dealing with weeds in your pretty pavers.

  • Kill the Weeds – That’s an obvious tip. But be careful before you go grab a bottle of Roundup. Some of the chemicals in weed killers can discolor your pavers. So, consider using a white vinegar solution. Test a small area using a 2’ x 2’ area.
  • Remove the Weeds – Here is the fun part. Who doesn’t like to use the pressure washer? We love using the pressure washer and guess what? You are killing two birds with one stone. Get rid of the dead weeds from the vinegar and clear your pavers at the same time!

Now that you have cleaned out the weeds from your Orlando pavers, we bet you feel much better. The key is to stay on top of it and try to reduce your risk of weed seeds from your lawn or other lawns around your paved area.
